Bee House Montessori Daycare has been educating children since 1997; we are located at 3855 Sunset street Burnaby and 7283 Nelson Ave Burnaby. We provide daily childcare services to children 3 years to 5 years old as well as Before and After school care for grades 1-4.

The school operates between the hours of 7:30am to 6:00pm Monday to Friday.

We provide healthy nutritious snacks and an environment where a child learns to love his or her world and truly take care of it. We also have a music class once a week, as well as weekly themes.

Bee House Montessori Day Care is dedicated to keeping a close relationship with parents.

Please make an appointment with Dana to visit one of our locations.

We look forward to meeting you and your child.

Philosophy

We recognize that children learn and develop in their own way and at their own pace and encourage them to work toward independence and self-motivation. We teach appreciation and responsibility for the environment and a sense of cooperation and respect. We provide children with a wide range of meaningful experiences that empower them to explore their world. We help children gradually expand their knowledge and skills as they grow into confident, self-directed individuals.

”The most important period of life is not the age of university studies, but the first one, the period from birth to the age of six. For that is the time when man's intelligence itself, his greatest implement is being formed. But not only his intelligence; the full totality of his psychic powers... At no other age has the child greater need of an intelligent help, and any obstacle that impedes his creative work will lessen the chance he has of achieving perfection"

-Dr. Maria Montessori in The Absorbent Mind

The Montessori Method

Maria Montessori was born in Italy in l870; she became the first female physician in Italy in l896. Her clinical observations led her to analyze how children learn, how they build themselves from what they find in their immediate environment. The Montessori Method of education is based on Montessori’s scientific observations.

Dr. Maria Montessori felt that the goal of early childhood education should not be to constrict children with adult centered activities but rather to create a learning environment to promote freedom of movement and choice in order “to cultivate the child’s own natural desire to learn”. To this end, a vast collection of unique ‘didactic’ learning materials meticulously designed according to official Montessori specifications is a cornerstone of this method. This commitment to using only the best teaching materials is unique to Montessori learning.
